Hunan Engineering & Technology Research Center for Natural Products (HETRCNP)
Ratified and approved by Hunan Provincial Government, Hunan Engineering & Technology Research Center for Natural Products (Hereinafter refers to HETRCNP or the Center) was established on July 2003 by combining Hunan Agriculture University’s Research Center for Natural Ingredients and ?Hunan Agriculture University’s Separation Technology Center for Botanical Ingredients. In the same year, the Tea Science Lab of the Center was certified as the National Key Labs. Led by Professor Larkin Liu, one of the most distinguished tea scientists in the world, the research center focuses the following areas:

Technological

  • Separation and Purification of Natural Ingredients.
  • Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis of Natural Ingredients.
  • Functionality and Pharmacology of Natural Ingredients.
  • Bio-Technology on Selection and Improvement of Botanical Resources
  • Development of Natural Products Directly Targeting Consumers
  • Evaluation on Safety of Natural Ingredients.
Currently there are 30 research fellows/scientists working in the center, and most of the fellows/scientists are professors and/or PhDs. Coupled with the sophisticated equipments and devices, the center is in a strong position to identify new ingredients, and is able to stretch the scale of its production from laboratory level to pilot manufacturing.In the past years, the center undertook over 40 research projects assigned by the Ministry of Science & Technology of PR. China, Hunan Provincial Government, and the other authorities. It is subsidized sponsored over 5 million RMB every year by the authorities and/or the Chinese companies, and it was awarded 12 prizes for its innovation. Hunan Provincial Government bestowed the 1st Prize to “Study On & Development of Tea Extracts and Its Related Products” for the center’s breakthrough in the innovative application of tea leaf & its derivatives.
